'Have a Go' FCN Silent Auction

Helping farming people through difficult times

Picture -

FCN is a Christian organisation and registered charity working across the UK in the farming community. We have over 250 volunteers drawn from rural churches and farming backgrounds who provide national helpline and visiting service to farming people and families facing difficulties. They provide pastoral and practical support for as long as is needed, helping people find a positive was forward through their problems.

Much of this work goes on quietly and with little recognition but its value cannot be over estimated. Many people have their health, their families, their future and their very lives intact because of the care, support and friendship they have received from an FCN volunteer.

In Yorkshire there are FCN volunteers working tirelessly to help those who are facing difficulties. There have been many challenges for our farmers and support available when need can make all the difference.

I do hope you will feel able to support this silent auction by submitting your bids. I think you will agree there are some fantastic Lots. You may get a bargain but in any case will be providing financial support to a very good cause.

Farm Crisis Network in Yorkshire would like to thank all those who have donated lots and supported this fundraising event in any way. We are enormously grateful.

FCN provides pastoral and practical support to farming people during periods of anxiety, stress and problems relating to both the farm business and the family. Nationally at any one time FCN is helping over 900 families primarily through an extensive team of volunteers.

In the medium to long term there is perceived to be a viable future for many farming businesses as issues of food supply and security take on new significance. However, most businesses are going through a period of dramatic change and readjustment. Smaller businesses especially in the livestock and tenanted sectors are under additional pressure and some will need to exit the industry. The main problems being experienced include financial pressures, health, depression, family relationships, bureaucracy demands, animal diseases and welfare, legislation, legal issues and bereavement.

Financial and human resources are needed for FCN to continue to deliver this support service and I hope you will feel able to contribute by participation in this auction.

Many thanks
